ABOUT POBY

This site is to showcase what the Leica 10 Monochrom can accomplish, when used in different ways. Beside street photography and lifestyle/portraits, this completely manual camera is able to create the most beautiful and extreme sports images.

ABOUT EURO MUNICH 2022

Poby is a German born photographer based in Los Angeles. A former pro athlete who studied arts, combining these two worlds, showing the true soul and dedication of each athlete. Specialized in editorial story telling as well as advertising. While photographing sports, portraits and underwater, he loves to play with and brake the rules to create his unique look. His style is close and intimate as much as it is pulled back and story telling. In the 80s and 90s he covered basically all large sports events world wide, like olympic games, world cups, ski events and more. Back then he photographed these events with three different cameras, loaded with color and black and white films to cover all different needs for the media to use. This routine and experience to switch between black and white and color photography in a spilt second is rare. Training your eye on how to differentiate between the two ways to see the world is key.

At the Munich 2022 Euro Poby photographed with two Leica M10 Monochrome (40 million pixel black and white only sensor) and four manual lenses: 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 90mm. Camera and lenses can be worked completely manual only, as they did back in 1972 at the olympic games in Munich. In fact the lenses he used here were already on the market in 1972.
The picture here shows Poby working side by side with the world best sports photographers and their massive equipment.
